[post_content] => The newest edition to the various available walks is the Exe Estuary Trail. Running alongside the railway line, this new trail, completed in 2014, allows for 26kms of almost traffic-less path hugging the ebbs and flows of the estuary, concluding in Dalish Warren.
[top-tip]
Refreshments are situated in towns and villages along the route, most notably the port-town of Topsham and all the pubs and beer gardens it brings. The whole trail is designed to be cycled too, with designated cycle paths running alongside those walking. The regional capital of Exeter is accessible from the path and train stations leading there and beyond are dotted along the trail should your day take you further afield.

[post_content] => For a calmer, more laid-back stroll, the River Otter trail leading on from Budleigh beach and ending in the village of Otterton runs parallel to the river. The path is a prime location for bird watching, surrounded by vegetation and mudflats, providing a vital feeding location.
This walk is interchangeable with a cross-roads leading back to Exmouth or on to the local town of Sidmouth with rest stops dotted all along and fishing jetties a prime spot to sit and take it all in.

[post_content] => For a more traditional hiking experience, Woodbury Common is located on the outskirts of the town with various trails whether it be a refreshing walk or something a bit more intense. The common is a part of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and that shows, filled with wildlife, glorious landscapes and local heather and gorse plant-life to accompany your hike.
The site is thriving with activity with training grounds for the Royal Marines' near-by Lympstone base situated within the common, paths suitable for mountain biking and even home to RC aircraft clubs.

[post_content] => Orcombe Point, the very beginning of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, is easily accessible within the town and provides stunning views of the Exe estuary and the the English Channel.
Located 10 minutes outside the town centre, the beginning of the trail begins at the far east point of the seafront. Surrounded by local plants and wildlife, every trip across the cliffs will present a different experience. Opportunities for detours to the sands below are possible with pathways leading to the beaches placed periodically along the trail, allowing you to retrace your steps from another perspective with the wave on one side, the red sandstone cliffs on the other and sands beneath your feet.

[post_content] => Possibly Exmouth's defining feature is it's 2-mile stretch of golden sands. Spanning from the newly developed marina along to the beginning of the Jurassic Coast at Orcombe Point, the seafront is sprinkled with pubs and restaurants serving the freshest of seafood caught in the estuary, or something more traditional should you chose.

The town is home to multiple watersports companies, allowing you to try your hand at a slew of sports from a chilled SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) to something a bit more adrenaline-pumping such as surfing.
The newly developed Queen’s Drive Space provides entertainment for the little ones whilst you chill out with an ice cream from one of multiple ice cream shops located near-by, with stops for the land train also located right outside the park being a perfect opportunity to see Exmouth from an open-air carriage that circles the town and all its intricacies.
Find your competitive edge in the recently completed Ocean bowling alley, located right on the sand's edge for a quick break from the sun and the elements.
The seafront has a range of pay and display car parks with spaces also available along the seafront itself. Free all-day residential parking is also spread out in the surround areas, though be aware these will fill up quickly throughout busy periods such as summer and new years.
Stunning views, rippling waves and rolling sands are bound to leave a lasting impression on you – you won't find another beach experience like Exmouth.

[post_content] => Exmouth, located 30 minutes outside the regional capital of Exeter, boasts a myriad of activities for all ages. With our picturesque seafront spanning two miles of golden sands, stunning walking routes running along the coast and up in to the surrounding woodlands of Woodbury Common, and a vast selection of restaurants – a stay in Exmouth is sure to entertain and intrigue.
The town’s placing at the mouth of the river Exe estuary makes it a perfect location to try your hand at watersports with various local dedicated watersports shops offering kit rental and lessons, or should you chose to slow it down a notch and soak up the local scenery, there are various fishing spots dotted around the area. If you prefer to leave catching your supper to the professionals, there are many restaurants and pubs serving local sea food, with the scenic estuary exe estuary trail being a perfect excuse to burn off your catch of the day. The quaint port town of Topsham is waiting for you at the other end with its beer gardens perfect for a refreshment before the trip back.
The rail line is situated on the edge of the town centre, with the line following much the same path as the estuary trail. Gorgeous landscapes presented to you from your carriage window, with services running roughly every half an hour to Exeter and all the shopping and food experiences the city brings. There is a bus stop situated nearby with a regular service to the town and seafront and in season the added attraction of a open top bus.
The newly developed Queen’s Drive Space provides entertainment for the little ones whilst you chill out with an ice cream from one of multiple ice cream shops located near-by, with stops for the land train also located right outside the park. The land train being a perfect opportunity to see the whole town from an open-air carriage that circles the town and all its intricacies – there is quite literally a gem to be found around every corner.

[post_content] => Budleigh beach, located 15 minutes away by car in the neighbouring town of Budleigh Salterton, is a pebble beach perfect for bathing with its clean and calm waters. Beach huts are available for hire, with food and drink just a stones throw away.
During the summer, you can try your hand at mackerel fishing. The deep waters off of the shoreline mean you can catch an abundance of tasty fish during high tide. There are also BBQ facilities available along the beach.
The aforementioned
River Otter (read more here) trail begins at the opposite end of the pay and display car park situated at the east most point of the beach. The rocks at Ottermouth give the whole family the opportunity to explore.
